LABELS

I Want To

be the breadwinner
win bread I want to
bread the win and start
again I want to dust
the counter with flour
knead with knuckles
wait for rising.

stay-at-home and write
write the home win
the bread with writing
clean the counter
for the dusting
flip the pan
gold dome in hand.

Had to read this several times. Like the line breaks, interspersed with rhyme. Excellent poem!!

Thanks Rae - I'd love to part of the feminist project - send the info! I think this needs work, and I got some good feedback today in a workshop and I may end up having another stanza and I need to deal with the "I" in the first stanza and no "I" in the second . . .
